Gi-Jin is the Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group’s intimate hand roll and gin bar in Downtown Pittsburgh. Its menu is grounded in Japanese technique, restraint, and respect for each ingredient.
Gi-Jin is regarded as one of Pittsburgh’s top sushi destinations. We’re known for pristine nigiri, sashimi, and hand rolls, paired with a carefully selected gin, sake, and Japanese whisky program.
We don’t offer a formal omakase menu, but our chefs are happy to guide you through a selection of nigiri and hand rolls. Ask your server when you’re seated.
Gi-Jin is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday and accepts reservations only. Each seating lasts two hours. Book online in advance because tables and counter seats go quickly.
We’re at 208 6th Street in Downtown Pittsburgh, between Liberty and Penn Avenues. Gi-Jin is in the Cultural District, steps from Butcher and the Rye and Meat & Potatoes.
No outside alcohol is permitted. If you have a specific request for gin, sake, or Japanese whisky, email us in advance and we’ll try to source it for your visit.
Yes. The intimate, reservation-only setting makes Gi-Jin a favorite for date nights, celebrations, and upscale sushi dinners in Downtown Pittsburgh. Tables accommodate up to four guests, while counter reservations are for one or two guests.
Start with a few classic nigiri to appreciate the quality of the rice and fish. Then try hand rolls such as toro or eel, and let the bar team suggest a matching gin or sake.
